PERi-PERi
PERi-PERi is the heart and soul of Nando’s and the
secret ingredient behind our restaurants worldwide. One bite, and you
will be hooked. This magic taste will put fire in your belly and ignite
passion in your soul, just like it did to our Portuguese forefathers,
who were introduced to it when they reached Africa way back in the 15th
Century.
They added this fiery little number to a handful of spices, a squeeze
of sun-ripened lemons and a dash of garlic to create the first ever
PERi-PERi sauce. Today, our PERi-PERi sauces and products still follow
this unique recipe and are made in the same tradition as they were
hundreds of years ago.This magic taste will put fire in your belly and ignite passion in your soul.

Flavour and fire
PERi-PERi is packed with flavour and a tingle because it is made with spices, sun-ripened lemons, onion and a dash of garlic, blended with our special ingredient – the African Bird’s Eye Chilli. What’s more, with a range of flavours, you can choose your heat before you eat!
Uniquely African
Why is Nando’s PERi-PERi so uniquely African? The answer lies in the French word ‘terroir’ which loosely translated means soil.
Only the terroir of south-east Africa can produce PERi-PERi, or the African Bird’s Eye Chilli which is native to this part of the world.
An African Bird’s Eye Chilli seed planted in South America for example, would have a completely different taste – simply because the terroir there is different. Strange, but true!

the flavour and quality that you expect from Nando’s. Made from fresh
ingredients, our PERi-PERi sauces are free from
artificial preservatives, colourants, flavourants, contain no added MSG and is also Gluten-free.
We are so passionate about PERi-PERi, that we are the world’s biggest consumer of Bird’s Eye Chilli. We are therefore striving to source all our chillies in an ethical and sustainable manner.
